FAQ

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK YOU?

My average wedding booking is made 1.5-2 years before the big day, usually just after the couple have set a date and booked their venue. However, I have had short notice bookings up to the day before! The earlier you get in touch, the higher chance I have your date available.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR "STYLE"?

I'd say mostly reportage as-it-happens style with a little bit of posed group shots, and some artistic creative work in there too. Every wedding is slightly different, so my style will reflect the couples personality and wishes.

DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH SAME-SEX, CULTURAL AND RELIGIOUS WEDDINGS?

I photograph love in all forms and gender, sexuality, religion or race make no difference to how I work with you. As long as you love each other, I will love photographing your wedding!

DO YOU VISIT OUR VENUE BEFOREHAND?

I've covered weddings in most local venues but if I haven't been there before I will visit it before your wedding. I'll look at "plan B" options for bad weather, and where the light will be best at different times of day.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE WEATHER IS TERRIBLE?

In Scotland we don't always get the perfect wedding weather, but this shouldn't affect the quality of your photographs. I will bring lighting equipment with me just in case we need to do your photos indoors, but going out in the rain can also result in stunning photographs!

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU ARE UNWELL ON THE DAY?

Should the worst happen and I am extremely unwell, I have a network of back-up photographer friends that are also professional wedding photographers. I'm also a member of some emergency photographer groups which have a crisis system in place for replacing photographers at short notice. The bottom line is if I can't make your wedding due to uncontrollable circumstances, I'll arrange a professional who will. This is worst-case-scenario stuff, hopefully I won't ever need it but these measures are there for peace of mind.

CAN WE SUGGEST OUR OWN IDEAS FOR QUIRKY PHOTOS?

Absolutely! I love suggestions for photos, the more weird and wonderful, the better! Don't worry if you can't think of anything though, we can keep things simple and I'll suggest some classic poses too.

WILL YOU TAKE SOME POSED PHOTOS OF MY FAMILY?

Yes! I try to keep the posed photos short and sweet to avoid taking up a large chunk of your day, but we will put together a list of important group shots of your nearest and dearest. I recommend 8-10 groupings, but can tailor this to your specific needs.

HOW LONG DO YOU STAY FOR?

My standard coverage is from bride/groom preparations through to a few dances into your evening reception. This is not set in stone, if you are having fireworks, a dance troupe or something I don't want to miss, we can talk about me staying a little longer.

HOW LONG DO WE WAIT FOR OUR PHOTOS?

Your photographs are typically ready within 14-21 days after your wedding. We can arrange a viewing appointment at my studio for you to watch your slideshow in style, and your USB will be ready to take home there and then. I also post a sneak peek of around 10 photographs on my business Facebook page a day or two after your wedding.

DO YOU GIVE US THE DIGITAL FILES?

Yes! Digital files are a big part of my service, and the photographs you receive on the USB stick have no watermarks or logos, and are full size. You can use and print these files as you wish! I also include re-sized versions for using on social media, and my online galleries allow you to access and download your photographs from most devices in any country, as long as you have an internet connection.

WHAT TYPE OF ALBUMS DO YOU OFFER? HOW DO YOU DESIGN THEM?

My albums are luxurious in quality with flush mount lay-flat pages and come with a range of cover options which are available to view in my studio. The interior of the albums are a storyboard style with multiple photographs across the pages, and the pages are thick and rigid unlike flimsy magazine-style photo books. I come up with an initial design that I feel reflects and tells the story of your big day then send it by e-mail for your approval, but you can request as many changes as you like until its absolutely perfect.

ANOTHER PHOTOGRAPHER IS CHARGING SIGNIFICANTLY LESS THAN YOU, CAN YOU MATCH THIS PRICE?

It can be difficult to figure out what a reasonable cost is for a wedding photographer, and pricing can vary so much from one photographer to the next. Sometimes these differences are clear, like physical products that will cost extra to include such as albums, wall art or prints. Other times the differences aren't so visible - things like insurance, back-up equipment, training, staff etc. In a nutshell, I cannot provide my services at a lower rate without sacrificing the quality of my work, cutting corners by not equipping myself properly or risking my reputation.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO CONFIRM OUR BOOKING?

To secure your booking and wedding date I require a £300 retainer and a signed copy of my wedding contract. The remaining balance can be paid any point up to 8 weeks before your wedding, and I offer monthly instalment payment plans which are interest-free.

CAN WE MEET WITH YOU TO DISCUSS OUR NEEDS BEFORE BOOKING?

Absolutely! In fact I think meeting in person without the pressure of booking on the spot is essential. We need to make sure we are the right fit for each other, and I reserve your wedding date for a maximum of 4 weeks from inquiry to give us a chance to meet up for a chat. Why not fill out the inquiry form below and we can arrange a consultation?
